Delivery Tracker Rapid Research
Role: Lead UX Researcher
Methodology: Concept Testing
Research Type: User Interviews
Conducted: January 2024
I efficiently orchestrated expedited concept testing research, encompassing the involvement of five customers from initial planning through to report-out, all within a condensed two-week timeframe. This endeavor not only met a rapidly approaching deadline with minimal lead time but also underscored my adaptability and efficacy under pressure.
The details below are a synopsis of a large project. I would love the opportunity to talk with you about this in deeper detail and address any questions you might have.
Background
Our customers frequently engage our rental branches and their sales representatives for updates on their equipment delivery statuses. In response to this recurring demand, the delivery tracker product was conceptualized to streamline these inquiries, empowering customers with a digital platform to autonomously track the progress of their assets. In order to garner valuable insights during the early phases of development, I conducted concept testing sessions focused on the preliminary designs of this solution.
Research Goal
To assess and provide feedback and improvements to the proposed equipment delivery tracker wireframes.
Research Questions
To what extent do the designs meet the need of customers knowledge of their equipment delivery status?
How could the equipment delivery tracker designs be improved to better meet customer needs?
Is there any additional information that could be provided about the equipment delivery tracking to improve the customers’ knowledge of their equipment delivery overall?
Method
Moderated semi-structured interviews with 5 participants
Concept testing
I selected this methodology to gather in-depth feedback in the early stages of the product, allowing us to quickly assess whether it meets users' needs and expectations.
Crucial Insights
Participants expect updates to be pushed to them
Customers expect to be able to interact with the tracker
Confirmation of signature would lend credibility to the business and the product experience.
Impact
I was able to provide insights that confirmed the initial concept was viable for the first release and identified key features for future updates, resulting in a strategic product roadmap that set the stage for an improvement in user experience in subsequent releases.
Learnings
It is very rewarding to prove that you have the capability to complete a research project from inception to report-out in a short span of time.
If I were to do this again, or have had more time and resources, I would have implemented parallel iterative testing to get more feedback on key features of the product.
